a large red figure dominating a smaller blue figure painted on top of newspaper clippings

“They Had”. Oil paint, over newspaper clipping about the Gulf War, on gessoed wood panel. 12″ x 10″.

“The Christian’s life is to be a thing of truth and also a thing of beauty in the midst of a lost and despairing world.”

Francis A. Schaeffer, Art and the Bible.

In its own peculiar way, this painting attempts to reconcile the horror of war with the beauty of life. In the manner of Francis Schaeffer, I try to include both the dark and the light in my artwork while maintaining hope.
