“Blue woods”. Acrylic paint on canvas. 16″ x 20″.
Because life is both material and spiritual, then to adequately reflect life, art needs to contain both, otherwise it is not true to life. I find that abstraction more easily expresses the spiritual and representation the material. I also find that when I try to paint a physical object, the picture can become dull as I exert my intention and control to achieve a likeness. As a counterbalance, to re-energize the picture, I like to add abstract passages, influenced by the Holy Spirit.
